I came to the United States in 1984 to become an Architect.  In 1990 I received my BS in Architecture and started working for various firms.  In 1995 I went to work for the NYC Housing Partnership where I got involved with the design of low income housing in the 5 boroughs of NYC.  I became very involved with developers and building managers and that gave me a taste for the kind of money behind real estate investments.

In 1999, I got tired of renting and purchased my first multi-family property in the Bronx.  The transaction was very difficult and I learned a lot about the different types of loan products, types of properties, cash flow, etc.  I then decided to take a 45-hour real estate class.  Not to become a real estate salesperson, but to gather the necessary skills to make better investments in the future.  However, in order to get a license, I had to be sponsored by a broker.

So I went to the Century 21 company down the block from my property and asked to be sponsored and trained.  Talk about being at the right place and at the right time.  Year 2000 was exactly the beginning of the boom in real estate.  I saw the income potential that was sitting in my hands and I ran with it.  I never went back to Architecture once I replaced, and surpassed, my income.  I stayed with the same company until 2011 when I decided to open my own firm RSM Real Estate Consultants, Inc.
